Written Answers - Consultancy Contracts.

Question:

157 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Defence the number of consultancy contracts awarded by him or by the Ministers of State at his Department; their value and purpose; the costs in terms of salary or consultancy fees; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15036/97]

Six consultancy contracts have been awarded. The details sought by the Deputy are as follows:

Malachy Walsh and Partners

To examine the Oil Wharf at Naval Base, Haulbowline, to indicate repair work required and to oversee the repair to final completion.

Estimated fee: £30,616.33. Fee is based on an estimated project cost at £175,000; actual fee will depend on final project cost.

Marine Engineering Consultancy

To assist with the evaluation of tenders for a new Fishery Protection Vessel and to ensure the best modern practices and technology are incorporated in the vessel chosen.

Stg £39,325. Contract fixed with a liability limit of stg £41,000; cost will be based on vouched expenses and hours worked.

PARC Ltd. Personnel Consultant

Provision of assistance with the recruitment of cadets for the Defence Forces.

£66,500.

Mary Murphy Associates

Provision of Public Relations Services for a period of up to one year. Contract to commence on submission of Tax Clearance Certificate.

£1,000 per month plus VAT.

Aer Rianta

To monitor building Casement vicinity of proposals in the Aerodrome.

£2,500 per annum.

Byrne, Mullins Archaeological and Associates Consultants

Provision of advice archaeological sites in relation to at the Curragh.

£2,668.
