Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

Willie Penrose

Question:

559 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education the steps, if any, being taken by his Department to provide, inter alia, much needed classrooms, an extension, toilets, the upgrading of storage facilities, refurbishment, safe parking and drive-in access together with other much needed works at Coralstown national school, Mullingar, County Westmeath; if he will ensure that all the necessary plans are put in place to allow these works to go to tender and commence early in 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14403/97]

My Department has commenced the architectural planning for a building project at Coralstown national school.

When all the planning work has been completed, a decision on the tender and contract process will be taken in the light of other priority projects, and available financial resources.

However, I can assure the Deputy that this project will be progressed as quickly as posssible through the various planning phases.
