Vol. 480 No. 6

Written Answers - Dumping Licence.

Nora Owen

Question:

120 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if the licence for dumping has been extended for Ballealy tiphead, Lusk, County Dublin; when the extension was made; when the extension expires. [14871/97]

Fingal County Council holds a foreshore licence administered by my Department in repsect of part of the landfill site at Ballealy. The licence is for a term of 99 years from February 1978. A licence in respect of the balance of the site developed on foreshore lands expired in 1992. There is, however, a longstanding application from 1993 for a renewal of the aforesaid licence and to develop, in the medium term, the entire site — covered by both licences — into an amenity area. The consideration of this application is on hold pending the submission of an EIS and full details of Fingal County Council's proposal in respect of the total dumpsite.
