Vol. 481 No. 2

Written Answers. - Migraine Services.

Michael Noonan

Question:

104 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Health and Children the correspondence, if any, he has received from the Irish Migraine Association; his views on the association's plan to establish a migraine clinic; if he will provide the £100,000 necessary for this project in the 1998 Estimate of his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15811/97]

I have received representations on behalf of the Irish Migraine Association regarding the need for a headache and migraine clinic. I understand that the association has also been in communication with Beaumont Hospital on the matter. However, to date I have received no specific proposals from the hospital in this regard.

On receipt of such proposals, they will fall to be considered within the context of the hospital's own priorities and the many competing demands for resources within the acute health sector.
