Vol. 481 No. 2

Written Answers. - Consultancy Contracts.

Mary Hanafin

Question:

141 Ms Hanafin asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the number of consultants, if any, engaged by his Department between 1 April 1997 and 26 June 1997; the amounts paid to each consultant; the work undertaken by each consultant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15867/97]

There were two consultancy assignments in the former Department of Tourism and Trade during the period in question. Tim Ryan Media Services was providing advice and guidance on public relations matters, while Fitzpatricks Associates were continuing with the evaluation of the tourism operational programme 1994-99, including a mid-term evaluation. During the period in question, they were paid £2,592.66 and £27,873 respectively after withholding tax had been deducted. Seventy-five per cent of the payment to Fitzpatricks is recoupable from the EU.
