Vol. 481 No. 2

Written Answers. - Proposed Legislation.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

17 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Finance whether the heads of the valuation Bill have been completed; if he has cleared those heads within his Department; if so, when he proposes to bring the memorandum to Government; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15694/97]

The draft heads of a Valuation Bill are at an advanced stage of preparation in my Department. As soon as my Department has completed its consideration of the draft heads, it will be necessary to obtain the views of other Departments. As the Valuation Bill is intended to update and overhaul the valuation code, the process of consultation with other Departments is likely to be a complex and detailed one. As soon as that consultation process is over and its results taken on board, I intend to take a memorandum to Government.
