Vol. 481 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tax Incentives.

Noel O'Flynn

Question:

34 Mr. O'Flynn asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the fact that developments of the type (details supplied) in Cork City require private capital funding in the order of £100 million and will only be tax-driven; if he will stimulate these developments by appropriate urban development tax incentives in this zone of Cork city; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15310/97]

While I do not accept that a development of this nature could only take place if tax incentives are in place, the designation of an area for the purpose of urban renewal is a matter for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government in the first instance.
