Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy McGennis — the status of the report formed to produce guidelines on prescribing and dispensing methadone and the need to introduce regulations to prevent the dispensing of methadone in quantities greater than 100 milligrams and physeptone in quantities greater than 250 millilitres; (2) Deputy Moynihan — the progress made in relation to the live cattle and beef trade in Egypt following the recent visit of the Minister for Agriculture and Food (3) Deputy Cooper-Flynn — the progress of the North Mayo Enterprise Initiative in securing new employment for the north Mayo region as Asahi is due to cease trading in November with the loss of 315 jobs; (4) Deputy Gerard Reynolds — the need to introduce special financial assistance to companies in Ireland which are finding it extremely difficult to source markets due to competition from low labour cost countries; (5) Deputy Creed — the need to sanction the request from Údarás na Gaeltachta for permission to purchase "Coláiste Íosagáin in Ballyvourney, County Cork; (6) Deputy Ulick Burke — the need to provide funding to allow the reopening, development and restoration of the cross-radial rail link from Athenry to Gort to Waterford so that forestry products can be transported from the west to the place of processing; (7) Deputy Flanagan — the treatment of divorced persons for tax purposes with particular reference to the status of maintenance payments to the first family and if such payments are allowed as an expense; (8) Deputy Stagg — the incident at Dublin Airport on 8 October 1997 where there was a potential leakage of a radioactive substance on an Aer Lingus flight.

The matters raised by Deputies Gerard Reynolds, Stagg, McGennis and Creed have been selected for discussion.
