Question:

213 Ms McManus asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the membership of the new advisory committee set up to monitor the urban renewal designation scheme; the changes made to the membership or terms of reference since the committee was originally established; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17189/97]

The urban renewal expert advisory panel was established on 8 October 1997. The membership of the panel is as follows:

The panel's terms of reference are as follows;
"In relation to the urban renewal scheme to come into effect on 1 August 1998, the role of the expert advisory panel on urban renewal is—
(1) To advise the Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal in relation to
the criteria to be provided to local authorities to assist them in identifying priority areas for the purposes of the scheme, and
the guidelines in relation to the content of Integrated Area Plans to be prepared for the priority areas.
(2) To assess completed Integrated Area Plans and to make recommendations to the Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal in relation to the proposals for designation which are contained in those plans."
No changes have been made to the panel's membership or its terms of reference since its establishment.
