Vol. 481 No. 7

Written Answers. - School Placement.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

286 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science the action, if any, he proposes to take to ensure that a person (details supplied) in County Waterford, who is currently outside the school system, is immediately provided with a suitable school place; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16830/97]

I am most anxious to ensure that the child in question is placed in an appropriate school as soon as possible.

My Department's inspectorate is currently investigating an appropriate placement. In the meantime, my Department has sanctioned nine hours per week home tuition for the child.

A member of my Department's inspectorate will contact the child's parents shortly to discuss the details for delivery of the home tuition.
