Vol. 481 No. 7

Written Answers. - Expert Working Group on Child Care.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

27 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of times the expert working group on child care under Partnership 2000 has met; the membership of the group; and the expected timetable to produce a report. [16859/97]

The expert working group on child care functions at three levels — plenary sessions, sub-groups and steering group. It has met in plenary session on three occasions since it was established in July 1997.

The group has 66 members representing Departments, statutory bodies, non-governmental organisations and individuals with a specific expertise in child care. The sub-groups and steering group have met on one occasion to date and will meet regularly, roughly on a monthly basis. The expert working group plans to produce its final report by the end of December 1998.
