Vol. 482 No. 1

Other Questions. - Meetings with Chairman of Bord Fáilte.

Willie Penrose

Question:

10 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the meetings, if any, he has had with the chairman of Bord Fáilte since taking office; if so, the number of meetings; if he will give details of matters discussed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17294/97]

Since taking office I have been and will continue to be in regular contact with the chairman of Bord Fáilte on a full range of issues relating to tourism policy. It is in the nature of such meetings that all matters raised are discussed on a confidential basis.

Are the meetings with the chairman of Bord Fáilte held on a monthly or bi-monthly basis or only when issues arise?

I do not have a set day on which I meet the chairman of Bord Fáilte. Meetings come about as issues arise. I have met the chairman on approximately seven to ten occasions since coming into office both formally and socially. I believe I am due to meet the chairman this coming Friday.
