Question:25 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the reason for the non-payment of an approved grant for a community facility (details supplied) in County Mayo. [17231/97]

A grant of £15,000 was approved under the sports capital programme towards the development of this facility, in May 1997.
In July 1997 a letter issued from the Department of Education to the sponsors of the facility informing them of the allocation and setting out the information-documentation to be submitted in order to show their compliance with the terms and conditions of the programme. If they require any further clarification of this matter, they should contact the staff in the sport section of my Department who will be happy to help.
