Vol. 482 No. 1

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Michael Moynihan

Question:

39 Mr. M. Moynihan asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he will examine the application by Charleville Boy Scouts, Charleville, County Cork for national lottery funding in respect of a new scout hall; and the current progress of this application in view of the fact that Charleville is a town with very few facilities for young people and has a growing young population. [17176/97]

An application for funding under the sports capital programme was made by Charleville Boy Scouts in March 1996. However, it was not included in the round of approvals made by the pervious Minister in October 1996 or May 1997.

The organisation has recently reapplied to my Department for grant assistance and its application will be considered in the context of next year's allocation which will be determined in the context of the 1998 Estimates.
