15 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the Government's policy on the Islands; if she will implement this policy in full; and if she will give a time frame in this regard. [17322/97]
As Minister of State with responsibility for the islands it is my intention to implement the action plan I drew up prior to the election. As the Deputy will be aware I have already visited a number of islands and work is proceeding already on implementation of the programme. It is our intention to implement these policies during the life span of the Government — that is between now and the year 2002.
