Vol. 482 No. 2

Written Answers - Mullaghmore National Park.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

44 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will make a statement on the national park at Mullaghmore, County Clare; and the action, if any, she is taking in this regard. [17354/97]

Question:

61 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the discussions, if any, she has had with community associations and local groups in Clare regarding the site at Mullaghmore; the discussions, if any, she has had with Clare County Council in this regard; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17391/97]

I propose taking Questions Nos. 44 and 61 together.

The current position in relation to the proposed visitor facilities at Mullaghmore is that the Clare County Manager has decided to treat the planning application as a "material contravention of the County Development Plan". I understand that the council's decision on the matter is due to be taken at its meeting on 10 November.

I have met with a range of groups and individuals with an interest in this matter and I will continue with such discussions.
