Vol. 482 No. 2

Written Answers - Departmental Funding.

Tony Gregory

Question:

64 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if her Department can assist with the shortfall in the refurbishment costs (details supplied) of St. Michan's Church, Dublin 7. [17319/97]

The Deputy is aware that an application was received by my Department under phase II of the cultural development incentives scheme 1994-99 in respect of works to St. Michan's Church. I understand, however, that the promoters were informed last June that the application was not successful.

As the church in question is not in State care, the National Monuments and Historic Properties Service of my Department would not be in a position to provide funding for restoration works.

Michael D'Arcy

Question:

65 D'fhiafraigh Mr. D'Arcy den Aire Ealaíon, Oidhreachta, Gaeltachta agus Oileán an ndéanfaidh sí ráiteas i leith stádas na nirisí Gaeilge; agus na moltaí atá i gceist aici as seo amach. [17436/97]

Is ar Bhord na Gaeilge atá cúram maoinithe na n-irisí Gaeilge. Mar chuid d'athbhreithniú ar na hirisí tuigtear dom gur chinn an Bord ar iarratais a lorg, faoi 12 Meán Fómhair, ó dhreamanna ar spéis leo iris Ghaeilge a fhoilsiú. Tuigtear go bhfuarthas naoi n-iarratas in iomlán agus go raibh iarratais ó na ceithre iris mhíosúil a bhfuil deontais á n-íoc ina leith ag Bord na Gaeilge faoi láthair i measc na n-iarratas sin.

Tuigim go bhfuil na hiarratais go léir á meas ag an mBord faoi láthair.
