Vol. 482 No. 2

Written Answers - Traffic Offences.

Ivor Callely

Question:

95 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of people prosecuted in 1996 for non-compliance with speed limits; the research, if any, which has been undertaken in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17518/97]

The details sought by the Deputy regarding the number of people prosecuted in 1996 for speeding offences are contained in An Garda Síochána Annual Report 1996, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library.

The Garda supply road accident statistics to the National Roads Authority whose publications include research on road traffic matters, including speeding.
