Vol. 482 No. 3

Written Answers. - PAYE Taxpayers.

David Stanton

Question:

174 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Finance the number of people on the PAYE tax system and who are also working in the building industry. [17838/97]

The only relevant information available is from an analysis of PAYE tax returns for the income tax year 1994-95, the latest available, which indicates that some 35,245 employees were identified as having income from the building and civil engineering industry. Other individuals on tax records may also have income from the same activity but are not so identified in the statistics.
