189 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Sligo will be called for a hip replacement operation in view of her medical problems. [17637/97]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Sligo is the statutory responsibility of the North-Western Health Board in the first instance. I have asked the chief executive officer of the North-Western Health Board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.

I have asked the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.

192 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Offaly is still waiting to be called to the eye clinic for examination and the provision of corrective treatment almost three years after the school medical exam which identified the problem; the steps, if any, his Department will take to rectify the situation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the provision of eye examinations and the provision of corrective treatment to eligible persons in County Offaly is the statutory responsibility of the Midland Health Board, I have asked the chief executive officer of the Midland Health Board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
