Vol. 482 No. 3

Written Answers. - Medical Costs.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

194 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Health and Children the financial assistance or relief, if any, which is available for the family of a person (details supplied) in County Donegal with a very serious illness who has incurred substantial expenses related to, for example, long stays in the capital city while the person undergoes treatment. [17721/97]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Donegal is the statutory responsibility of the North-Western Health Board in the first instance. I have asked the chief executive officer of the North-Western Health Board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
