Vol. 482 No. 3

Written Answers. - St. Stephen's Green.

Pat Carey

Question:

294 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will have investigations made with the Office of Public Works into the reason a crude length of fencing has been allowed to remain in front of the Lord Ardilaun statue in St. Stephen's Green, Dublin 2; whether it can be arranged to have a section of railing fashioned which is compatible with the rest of the perimeter railing; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17925/97]

The railings around St. Stephen's Green are restored on behalf of my Department by the Office of Public Works on a phased basis as resources permit. The railings on the south and east sides have already been restored, together with one third of the north side and half of the west side, approximately. The Office of Public Works advise that restoration of the remainder of the railings including the section in front of the statue of Lord Ardilaun will be completed as soon as possible.
