305 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the progress, if any, made towards the appointment of an assistant or deputy to the State pathologist; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17747/97]

The Civil Service Commission held a competition this year to appoint a deputy State pathologist the outcome of which I expect to announce shortly.
