Vol. 482 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Bernard Allen

Question:

349 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the reason a grant, allocated earlier in 1997 to North Monastery Basketball Club, County Cork, has not been paid. [18042/97]

My Department is still awaiting submission of information and documentation which are standard requirements under the recreational facilities scheme, in respect of this project. A reminder issued to the club on 31 October 1997.

Olivia Mitchell

Question:

350 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if a grant will be paid to a club (details supplied) in Dublin 16; and if this club will be considered for participation in the proposed pilot scheme for sport in disadvantaged areas. [18043/97]

I have written to the club advising them of the provisions of the sports capital programme, application procedures and the position regarding availability of funding in 1997. The next round of grant approvals will not take place until 1998 at the earliest.

Proposals for community facilitators for disadvantaged areas are currently being developed in my Department in line with the commitment in an Action Plan for the Millennium but no decision has yet been made as to the designation of areas for such a programme.
