Vol. 482 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Conference Centre.

Tony Gregory

Question:

351 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the representations, if any, his Department has received on behalf of residents of North Wall, Dublin 1 who would welcome the location of the proposed national conference centre in their area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18151/97]

I have received no representations from residents of North Wall, Dublin 1 regarding the National Conference Centre project.

As the Deputy may be aware, a tender procedure for this project is now under way. The procedure is being administered by Bord Fáilte, under the aegis of an independent Management Board for Product Development — Bord Fáilte area — established under the Operational Programme for Tourism, 1994-99.

As advertised by Bord Fáilte in the Official Journal of the European Communities and the Irish national daily newspapers, interested parties had until 20 October to submit requests to participate in the tender procedure and invitations to tender were forwarded to suitable applicants on 30 October 1997.
