Vol. 482 No. 3

Written Answers. - Special Education Needs.

Richard Bruton

Question:

421 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will give details of the supports available to meet the special needs of a child (details supplied) in County Leitrim with dyslexia and the plans, if any, he has to improve these supports which are proving inadequate. [18142/97]

My Department has not received any request for the provision of particular supports for the child in question. However, I understand that the child has received support from the remedial teacher serving his school.

I have asked my Department's Inspectorate to investigate the needs of the child and to make recommendations regarding educational supports.
