Vol. 482 No. 5

Written Answers - Internet Trading.

Noel Ahern

Question:

113 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance the reason trading on the Internet is not accepted by his Department as legitimate trading; and the reason rules in relation to tax breaks and VAT refunds on export orders are not available to firms trading over the Internet in view of the fact that this is the case with other firms. [18441/97]

I am not aware that the Department of Finance or the Revenue Commissioners have given any rulings of this nature about trading on the Internet. Nor am I aware of tax breaks or VAT refunds having been denied to firms trading on the Internet. However, if the Deputy can provide further details, I will be glad to have the matter examined.
