Vol. 482 No. 5

Written Answers - Hospital Services.

Enda Kenny

Question:

117 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on the setting up of a cardiology unit in the west; the proposals, if any, his Department has received in this regard from Croi, the west of Ireland cardiology foundation; if so, if this proposal has been examined within his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18450/97]

Cardiology Services are available at a number of hospitals in the west. In relation to cardiac surgery, the position is that the question of the provision of cardiac care services is under review at the moment. An announcement will be made on the location of additional cardiac services when this review is complete.
