Vol. 482 No. 5

Written Answers - Garda Stations.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

135 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the progress, if any, which has been made in relation to maintaining a Garda station in the St. Mary's area of Limerick city, either in the current location or at another suitable location in the area. [18378/97]

While the Garda station in Mary Street had to be abandoned some years ago because of structural defects, a Garda service continues to be provided from a prefabricated building in the station yard. The Office of Public Works is examining the feasibility of restoring the station or providing a new building on the site. Detailed costings are awaited and it is not possible to say at this stage when work might commence.
