Vol. 482 No. 6

Written Answers. - Liquor Licensing Laws.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

366 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, she has to change the licensing laws; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18688/97]

I have no plans at present to amend the liquor licensing laws. However, the Deputy may be interested to know that I am actively pursuing the question of the introduction of a national, voluntary, age card scheme under the regulation-making provisions in section 40 of the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 1988 as a means of ensuring that the existing controls on underage drinking are made even more effective.
