Vol. 482 No. 6

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

377 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason his Department refused to allow a holiday visa to a person (details supplied) in view of the fact that she has applied on numerous occasions and his Department has refused her most recent appeal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18887/97]

As a matter of general policy, it is not the practice to comment on the specific details of individual cases where visas are refused. However, I can inform the Deputy that my Department is aware of one application in April of this year by the person concerned for a visa to visit Ireland. Following an initial refusal, the application was reviewed at the request of the Irish referee and refused again on the basis that the supporting information was not sufficient to satisfy my Department that a visa should issue in this case. I see no reason to alter that decision.
