Question:110 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she will expand the Board of Telecom Éireann to allow for four worker directors. [18557/97]

Under the Articles of Association of Telecom Éireann and the Shareholders' Agreement with the Strategic Partners, the number of directors on the board of the company is 12. This includes two directors elected under the Worker Participation Acts. In addition, two alternate worker directors may attend and participate in board meetings, in accordance with the provisions of Section 10 of the Telecommunications (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1996, which was introduced by the previous Government.
