Vol. 482 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

67 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive his de-stocking payment for moving his sheep from an overgrazed area as required. [18783/97]

I presume the Deputy is referring to the participation of the person named in the REP scheme and in particular to eligibility for supplementary measure 2 of that scheme.

It is a condition of the REP scheme that farmers must have had a sheep quota in 1993 to qualify for aid under this supplementary measure. This applicant did not have a sheep quota in 1993 and therefore is not eligible.

Question:

68 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be paid his 1997 cattle and sheep headage in view of the fact that the delay has caused severe financial hardship due to bank loan commitments. [18785/97]

The area aid application of the person named has not yet been cleared so as to allow payment of headage to him. Every effort is being made to clear all area aid applications, other than a small minority of very intractable cases, so that payment can be made in this and other similar cases during the next few weeks. If the area aid application of the person named is found to be in order he should be paid cattle and sheep headage within this period.

A payment, which included an additional amount in respect of supplementary measure 2 facilitating rejuvenation of lands under the REP scheme, issued to the person concerned on 13 June 1997.

Dan Neville

Question:

75 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a REP scheme payment will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick. [19223/97]

The application for the REP scheme in this case was the subject of a detailed assessment and farm visit during which certain deficiencies were noted in the applicant's agri-environmental plan. The applicant's planning agency has been notified of this, and requested to revise the plan accordingly. The application will be processed when this has been done.
