176 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Health and Children the current position in relation to waiting lists in respect of each hospital in the State; the procedures for which persons are currently on waiting lists; the comparative statistics in this regard for 1 November 1996; and the numbers in respect of each waiting list who have been waiting for in excess of six months, one year and two years. [19674/97]
The information requested by the Deputy is set out in the tables below. Waiting list data are collected in respect of the quarters ending March, June, September and December. The following tables provide the information requested by hospital and by specialty for the period ending 30 September 1996 and 30 June 1997.
In the case of waiting times, details are collected for adults awaiting treatment for (a) three to 12 months and (b) over 12 months and for children awaiting treatment for (a) three to six months and over (b) six months. Information in this format is contained in the following tables.
My Department will shortly be in contact with relevant agencies regarding arrangements for continuing the work to reduce waiting times and waiting lists in 1998.
