Vol. 483 No. 1

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

John Perry

Question:

192 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if a person (details supplied) in County Sligo is entitled to a widow's contributory allowance from her late husband's contributions. [19901/97]

The grant of a superannuation award to or in respect of a former employee of a local authority is a matter for the local authority concerned in the first instance. I have no function unless and until an appeal is made to me in relation to the failure or refusal of the local authority to grant a superannuation award or in relation to the amount of an award. I have no appeal in relation to the person named in this case.
