Vol. 483 No. 1

Written Answers. - EU Taxation Policy.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

85 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Finance if he has received a formal written communication from the European Commission following his visit with the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to Commissioner Monti regarding the Government's decision on the future regime for corporation tax after 2010; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19700/97]

The meeting to which the Deputy refers was with Commissioner Van Miert, who is responsible for EU State Aid rules. Neither the Tánaiste nor I has received any formal written communication from that Commissioner since that meeting which was held on 14 October last. The discussions with the Commission on the proposed new corporation tax regime are ongoing and could take some months to complete.
