Vol. 483 No. 2

Written Answers. - Orthdontic Service.

Michael Ring

Question:

128 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Parliamentary Question No. 78 of 15 October 1997 the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo received a bill for £250 for orthodontic treatment in view of the fact that the treatment has been ongoing since her assessment in sixth class and her family understood the treatment was free. [19996/97]

As I stated to the Deputy in my reply to his question of 15 October 1997 I asked the Western Health Board for a comprehensive report on this issue. A report dated 18 November 1997 has now been received and is currently being examined by officials in my Department. On completion of this examination I will write to the Deputy with regard to the position of the person to whom he refers.
