Question:

182 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Finance if his Department will complete arterial drainage works on the nine schemes approved by the previous Government in 1995; the progress being made on the flood relief scheme for Kilkenny City; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20090/97]

187 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, which are in hand with the Office of Public Works to alleviate the serious flooding problem in an area (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20442/97]

With regard to the Kilkenny scheme, the local authority have been presented with details of the preliminary report which identified options for a flood relief scheme for their decision and recommendation. In the meantime, the Commissioners of Public Works are continuing to firm up on the options presented in the preliminary report.
