Vol. 483 No. 3

Written Answers. - EU Funding.

Brendan Daly

Question:

183 Mr. Daly asked the Minister for Finance the current position on the drawing down of Cohesion Funds, regional development funds and so on from the EU. [20091/97]

My Department has overall responsibility for the Cohesion Fund and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (EAGGF) Guidance Section and the European Social Fund are administered by the Departments of Agriculture and Food and Enterprise, Trade and Employment, respectively.

The 1997 budget estimates of EU receipts from the Cohesion Fund and the European Regional Development Fund are £137 million and £352 million, respectively. EU receipts from 1 January 1997 to date, amount to £93 million from the Cohesion Fund and £317 million from the European Regional Development Fund.

Present indications are that by 31 December 1997, EU receipts from both funds will be quite close to the budget estimates.
