Vol. 483 No. 3

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Billy Timmins

Question:

48 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the proposals, if any, he has to simplify the procedures for seeking grants for the provision or improvement of an individual water supply to a private dwellinghouse; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16315/97]

In order to provide potential applicants with as much information as possible on all aspects of the scheme and to assist in the making of applications, my Department prepared a detailed explanatory memorandum which is provided to applicants along with the application form. I am not aware that any of the procedures involved in applying for a grant are superfluous to the need to ensure compliance with the conditions of the grant scheme and I have, therefore, no proposals to change the procedures.
