John Gormley

71 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will introduce a package of financial incentives to assist owners of listed buildings which will assist in their ongoing preservation. [20625/97]

Ivor Callely

Question:

81 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the current progress, if any, on consideration of measures in relation to the protection of our architectural heritage; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20634/97.]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 71 and 81 together.

My colleague, the Minister for the Environment and Local Government, Deputy Dempsey and I, are currently finalising, and will shortly be bringing forward for consideration by Government, a package of legislative, administrative and financial proposals, based on the recommendations in the report of the inter-departmental working group on strengthening the protection of the architectural heritage.
