Vol. 483 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dublin SPCA Closure.

Enda Kenny

Question:

345 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will assist the Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals which faces closure after 157 years due to lack of financial assistance; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [21337/97]

I regret there is no source of funding available to me from which I could provide assistance to the Dublin SPCA. The Deputy will be aware that my statutory responsibilities relate to the conservation of wildlife and that matters relating to cruelty to animals do not come within my remit.
