174 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number and identity of all contracts in excess of £300,000 awarded by his office or other bodies under the aegis of his Department from the period 30 June 1997 to date; whether these contracts were awarded by public tender or otherwise; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The details of relevant contracts awarded by my Department are listed below. The awarding of contracts by State bodies is a matter for the boards and managements of those bodies to decide without reference to my Department.

The above contracts were awarded following open public tendering procedures. There was no response to the original notice of public tender for No. 4 published in the Official Journal of the EU and, following consultation with the Government contracts committee, that contract was awarded through a restricted tender.
