Vol. 485 No. 2

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

185 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Finance the total amount of money made available to the State for each of the past five years from national lottery funds; the amount allocated to different sections of the community under health, education and sport; the total amounts in each case to relevant organisations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22816/97]

The total amount of national lottery funded allocations for each of the years 1993-97 (estimated outturn) is set out in the following table, which also gives a breakdown of the spending between the main beneficiary categories.

The amounts given to relevant organisations are published each year in the Appropriation Accounts of the Departments/Offices which administer the funds. Copies of these accounts are available in the Oireachtas Library.

My Department published in December 1996 a compendium of all national lottery grants from 1987 to 1994. This brought together in one volume the information for all the spending Departments/Offices. A copy of the compendium is also available in the Oireachtas Library. The compendium is currently being updated to cover the years 1995 and 1996 and will be published as soon as possible.
