298 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will give details of the recently announced national identity cards system; the way in which it is to be administered and by whom; and when the scheme will commence. [22601/97]
Officials of my Department have been examining matters relating to the introduction of a national, voluntary, age card scheme under the regulation-making provisions in section 40 of the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 1988. As the examination has not been completed, I am not yet in a position to furnish further details.
