Vol. 485 No. 2

Written Answers. - Report of Disciplinary Tribunal of Incorporated Law Society.

Bernard Allen

Question:

317 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reports, if any, he has received from the Disciplinary Tribunal of the Incorporated Law Society since its inception in June 1995; if so, the number of cases received by the tribunal; the sources they came from; the number which were upheld; and the number which were referred to the High Court. [22900/97]

The solicitors Acts do not provide for the submission to the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform of reports from the Disciplinary Tribunal established under section 6 of the Solicitors (Amendment) Act, 1960, as substituted by section 16 of the Solicitors (Amendment) Act, 1994.

The Deputy may be interested to know, however, that the report of the Disciplinary Tribunal for 1996-97 has been published in the current issue (December 1997) of the GAZETTE of the Law Society of Ireland.
