Question:

86 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the number of nominations that can be made, through his Department, to the boards of semi-State bodies and other Government agencies; the current holders of these nominations; and the terms of office they are currently serving. [22933/97]

The details requested, in respect of the semi-State bodies and Government agencies under the aegis of my Department, are set out below.

Arramara Teoranta

Appointments were made with effect from 7 July 1995 for an indefinite duration.

Port Companies Established under the Harbour Act, 1996.
To date eight port companies have been established under the Harbours Act, 1996:
Port of Cork Company
Drogheda Port Company
Dublin Port Company
Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company
Foynes Port Company
Galway Harbour Company
New Ross Port Company
Shannon Estuary Ports Company.
In the case of the port companies of Dublin, Cork and Dún Laoghaire, I have the power to appoint eight directors, including two worker directors. In the case of the remaining five port companies, I have the power to appoint eight directors, which includes one worker director.
My predecessor appointed six directors to each of the boards of the Cork, Dublin and Dún Laoghaire port companies. I appointed two worker directors to each of those companies following an election process. All ministerial nominations to the port companies, established under the Harbours Act, 1996, were appointed for a term of five years commencing 3 March 1997, vesting day of the port companies.
The following is a breakdown of the names of the current holders of the ministerial nominations in respect of each port company:
