183 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when the digitisation of area aid maps will be finalised in order that farmers will be paid their due payments without further delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23427/97]
The position is that the vast bulk of payments under all 1997 schemes have now been made. In most cases the payments have been based on fully digitised mapping. In a minority of cases the digitising exercise has been rescheduled for completion before issue of balancing payments in 1998. This means that all but intractable cases will be paid before the end of this year.
