Vol. 485 No. 4

Written Answers. - Milk Quota.

Austin Deasy

Question:

44 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the current national milk quota; and if he will give a breakdown on the way in which this is constituted on the basis of each cooperative and milk processing plant throughout the country. [23336/97]

The current national milk quota is 5.236 million tonnes (1.118 billion gallons).

In accordance with EU and national milk quota regulations, milk quota is allocated at the level of milk purchasers (co-operatives-dairies). My Department does not, for reasons of confidentiality, publish the quotas of individual co-operatives or dairies.
