198 Mr. Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the current sales figures for the furniture industry in Ireland, including the sale of imported furniture; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2234/98]

The latest year for which furniture production figures are available from the Central Statistics Office, CSO, is 1994. The figure shows total value of furniture manufactured and sold as £193,107,000. The value of exports for that year was £59,630,000. Imports in 1994 were valued at £64,150,000.
